Welcome to Postgraduate Program in Nutrition and Health (PPGNS) at Ufes

The PPGNS aims to graduate professionals to work in research, teaching and/or technology development in different areas of Nutrition, Food and Health.
In addition, the PPGNS also aims to expand and consolidate the research activities of UFES and the associated Centers. Focusing on these scopes, the PPGNS is intended to provide broad and deep scientific training, leading the student to obtain the academic degree of master’s in Nutrition and Health.

The specific objectives include:

a) To train professionals to work in the generation of knowledge and technologies in the area of Nutrition, Food and Health.
b) To promote the improvement of the quality of teaching in nutrition and related areas, through the training of teachers for technical and/or higher education.
c) Enable the continuity and improvement of research and products developed in the PPGNS, consolidating research lines and groups, and encouraging collaboration between students, teachers, and members of the scientific community.
d) Contribute to the solution of regional problems that require qualified professionals.
e) Strengthen the interaction between graduate programs and undergraduate courses at UFES.
f) Promote the interaction between universities, companies, government, and public and private sectors representative of society.
g) Extend and disseminate to society the knowledge about the work developed by teachers and students.
h) Expand knowledge about interventions and epidemiological analyzes of interest to the health of the population of Espírito Santo and the country.

Mission of the PPGNS:
To graduate highly qualified researchers committed to the area of Nutrition and Health and with research that generates social impact, technological innovation, and local, regional, and national development.

Area of Concentration and Lines of Research:
Area of Concentration: Nutrition, Food and Health
Line 1 - FOOD, DIETETICS AND NUTRITION: It aims to study the characteristics and properties of foods, nutrients and non-nutrients, preparations, new foods, and their effects on nutritional status, biochemical and metabolic processes in experimental models.
Line 2 - DIAGNOSIS AND INTERVENTION IN NUTRITION AND HEALTH: It aims to study nutritional problems and associated comorbidities, as well as the determinants of the health-disease process and its interfaces with biological, socioeconomic, cultural and environmental processes. It investigates the determinants of health and nutrition in different life cycles and the impact of interventions in different contexts.

The program is based in Vitória-ES, offering the course of Master Degree in Nutrition and Health since 2015 and has an academic qualification profile certified by CAPES, receiving 4 on its last evaluation.

The program already has 83 masters and counts with 58 students regularly enrolled, all of them being masters.
